These Families Were Devastated. Now They Are Fighting for Real Justice for All Texans.

At Webb, Stokes & Sparks, we stand with Texans who have suffered devastating losses due to negligence and corporate wrongdoing. For too long, powerful interests have sought to limit the rights of victims, making it harder for them to seek justice. Now, families across Texas are fighting back, advocating for fair laws that protect every citizen—not just big corporations and insurance companies.

Join other Texans by adding your voice to the fight. The citizen advocacy group Texas Watch is leading the charge, providing an easy way for Texans to contact their lawmakers and demand real justice. You can take action today by signing these important petitions:

ABOUT THE BILLS

Damage Caps: SB 30 / HB 4806

These bills would severely restrict the ability of victims to recover fair compensation. If passed, they would:

  • Cap non-economic damages, limiting compensation for pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of companionship.
  • Eliminate several categories of damages, stripping away rightful claims from victims who have suffered life-altering harm.
  • Create unfair barriers to proving medical expenses, making it even harder for injured Texans to recover what they are owed.
  • Artificially cap medical expenses, preventing victims from receiving the full and fair compensation needed for recovery.

These measures place corporate profits over people, making it even more difficult for victims to seek justice.

Trucking/CMV: SB 39 / HB 4688

These bills threaten the safety of Texas roads by undoing crucial protections that ensure trucking companies are held accountable for their role in crashes. If passed, they would:

  • Shift responsibility from companies to drivers, even when corporate negligence is to blame.
  • Weaken oversight and accountability, allowing dangerous practices to continue unchecked.
  • Undo the negotiated compromise passed in 2021, which carefully balanced the rights of victims and the responsibilities of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) companies.

Texans deserve safer roads and justice for victims—not laws that shield negligent corporations from responsibility.
